Inspired Youth Inc. - Volunteer Tutor

The Inspired Youth Tutoring Program helps elementary through high school students with school homework and extra reading, writing, and arithmetic during the academic year. Most of the children in the program attend Goudy Elementary School. Some of the children are referred by teachers at Goudy, but most hear about the program from friends. Many students from Goudy or the surrounding schools speak English as a second language or have recently found a home in the United States and settled in Chicago. We develop the children’s basic reading and math skills, supplement their classroom activities, and try to help create a safe community. Chicago Shakespeare Theater - Chicago Shakespear SLAM volunteer

What is CST SLAM? SLAM is a high school program that celebrates the power of play, community, language, and imagination. It is an ensemble program that provides an opportunity for high school students from schools across Chicago and the wider metropolitan area to come together to build community and play with language. We facilitate three Saturday Workshops where SLAM teams learn performance techniques and tools for working with Shakespeare’s text. Back at school, they choose their scenes and rehearse. We come back together in November for three Regional Bouts in which teams gather to showcase the scenes they have been working on!

The 2023 Komen Chicago Race for the Cure is fast approaching, and we are looking for passionate people like you to lend a hand as we celebrate the strength and resilience of survivors and all people affected by breast cancer. There are many ways for individuals and groups to get involved and make an impact. We need course monitors, registration assistants, start area and finish line support, parking lot attendants, and more!
